1. Why choose Burnin' Memories?
Some companies may sacrifice quality,
using high compression or inexpensive media, to produce a lower price
product. Burnin' Memories uses the least amount of compression possible, and
a high quality DVD disc. Most drug stores serve as a "middle man",
whereas at Burnin' Memories you deal directly with the person who will be
providing your customized product. Price shop and you will find that Burnin'
Memories has the most competitive pricing available. We also offer a "Satisfaction
Guarantee". Lastly, whomever you decide to utilize to convert your
videos, choose someone you can trust with your videos. Burnin' Memories
treats each customer's videos as if they were our own - with extreme care in
handling, filing, and storing.
2. How do we exchange your video tapes and DVDs?
Burnin' Memories offers a pickup and
delivery service in the Northshore (north of New Orleans) area, however, much
of our business is conducted by mail. If using mail, place your tapes in a
plastic bag inside a sturdy box. Ship them via a trackable method such as
UPS, FedEx, or Airborne Express. Likewise, we will return your originals to
you in a similar, careful manner.
3. What source formats does Burnin' Memories convert to DVD?
We convert VHS, SVHS, VHS-C, 8mm,
Hi-8, Digital8, and MiniDV. We consider other sources on a case-by-case
basis.
4. Why not use one of those new DVD recorders that are now coming to the
market?
First of all, the new recorders are
very expensive. And though their costs will continue to fall, they don't
typically produce the quality of video that one would expect on a DVD. They
are intended for casual recording of TV shows and standard videos.
Analog-tape-to-DVD conversion is a very complex and time-consuming process.
The new DVD recorders perform "real time" analog to digital
conversion which often results in digital artifacts (jittering video, muted
colors, skips, freezes, etc).
5. Will my DVD play on a widescreen TV?
Your DVD will be recorded with the
same aspect ratio as your original recording.
6. Will my tape be kept confidential?
The contents of all of your tapes is
kept strictly confidential. We do not disclose any contents or
materials to third parties. All information is removed from our systems
after your original tapes are returned safely.
7. Will DVD transfer "improve" the quality of the content of my VHS
tape if it has already begun to degrade?
The quality of your DVD is totally
dependent on the quality of the source tape. We cannot greatly improve
that quality, however, the analog to digital conversion includes some
filtering which may remove some picture noise and flickering.
8. Will Burnin' Memories convert copyrighted materials?
No, our services are only available
for non-copyrighted material unless the customer can provide approval from
the copyright owner.
